Dear Catherine,
I'm Catherine Woodward, and I have been working to protect the biodiversity of coastal Ecuador for 25 years. As President of the Ceiba Foundation for Tropical Conservation, I'm writing to you this Giving Tuesday to ask for your support of Ceiba's annual #GivingTreesDay campaign. Thank you for your time!
With our dedicated Ecuadorian staff, Ceiba has helped local landowners set up forest reserves, created nature-based education programs for local schools, and supported sustainable agriculture and microenterprises aimed at reducing poverty in rural communities. We have also given life-changing experiences to hundreds of U.S. undergraduates who have studied abroad with us.
Will you join us in making a difference by giving a gift to Ceiba?

We recently sent you our newsletter
Kapok, detailing the reforestation of over 500 acres in partnership with local landowners that we acheived in 2019. It's in the news that planting trees is one of the simplest and most effective ways to address climate change, and it benefits biodiversity and people too! With the success of our 2019 reforestation effort, more communities want to participate in reforesting another 500 acres in 2020!
Reforestation creates habitat for native species, restores soil productivity, and sequesters carbon from the atmosphere. Planted trees also give rural communities in Ecuador needed resources and new opportunities for income generation through agroforestry.
Together, we can deliver the environmental and social benefits of planting trees.
Please make your contribution to Ceiba's Giving Trees Day! |
